Pictures from Recovery

I must say... I LOVE blogger's new interface. Makes it SO much easier to upload pictures.

Sept 7th
Here's my first baby nurse...giving Elijah a bath in our room. One thing that's nice about St. Luke's Hospital is that their default is to always keep the baby with you. Baby Elijah stayed with us in L&D, then I held him when we moved to my recovery room. Then the baby nurse came and asked if we'd like her to give him a bath...here she is washing him in our sink.

Tim went home to pickup the crew. Olivia was a little confused at first that this new baby was "Eli"...and that he was no longer in my tummy.

Olivia brought baby Eli and blue teddy bear and balloon... Baby Eli got Olivia this Belle doll.

Our good friends the Swans stopped by to meet the new baby.

Sept 8th
Sent Elijah to the nursery that night... after a morning shower, we went to the nursery to pick him up.

Daddy wheeling Elijah back to our room.

Let's see...oh yes. On Day 2, little Elijah was circumcised. Poor little guy. Tim originally thought he'd want to be there...but then decided he couldn't do it. Before his circumcision, the 365 Photography person came and took some photos of Eli. Then Tim found a masseuse to come in and give me an hour long massage. Nice.

Grandpa Chan bundling up Elijah as we watched President Obama's speak to Congress. Olivia was excited to come to hospital the first day...but on this 2nd day, Tim asked her, "Do you want to go to the hospital to see Mommy?"
"No, no thanks."
"Do you want to go to the hospital to see Baby Eli?"
"No, no thanks."

After delivering Olivia, I was surprised at how big my stomach still was. But I don't think I ever took a picture. So here's a picture of me with my post-delivery belly. They say it's similar to a 5-month belly.

I also never got a picture of the concoction I had to wear post-delivery. So here it is. MUCH less than what I had to wear after Olivia. I had a first-degree tear this time. Have/had a few stitches. (Today, 5 days later, I really don't feel anything...hurray!). So in this picture is the water bottle to spray, a numbing spray, two maxi pads, and the hospital netting undies.

Sept 9th
The day we were finally discharged. For some reason, was pretty water-bloated today. So weird. With Olivia, I was bloated for a while BEFORE she was born (until a while after she was born). With Elijah, it didn't seem to hit me till today.

Here's a nurse taking Elijah's blood for his bilirubin test. The hospital pediatrician would have almost not discharged Eli b/c his bilirubin count was 12.1 (or something like that), and if we couldn't get in to see our own pediatrician the next day, then she would have kept him there an extra day. Apparently, the count wasn't high enough to need light-therapy, but high enough that she was "worried". (I think Olivia's count was higher...but I can't remember...and I can't find the record). The ped. had two of her students with her, so it seemed like she wanted to provide a learning experience for them... whatever. At least she was friendly and nice. She's actually married to a guy from Hong Kong, has been to Hong Kong several times, and also has a son and a daughter. (When Tim brought Elijah to see our pediatrician, she took one look at him and was like, "Uh, he's fine.")

Watching some Brian Reagan on the iPad. Thanks Netflix.

Ready to head home...

My hospital recovery room...and there's my lunch on the bed.

Oh. Before being discharged, my wonderful nurse (Reggie... Shoulda taken a pic with her, too!) checked the progress of my shrinking uterus. After delivery I guess I lost a lot of blood bc everything went so fast and it was a lot of stress on my uterus. So the nurses put me on pitocin to help my uterus contract and control the bleeding. My nurse was very impressed and surprised that my uterus was already 4 fingers down, when it would normally have only been two.
